Nine Nigeriens abducted by bandits have been released in Katsina, Governor Aminu Masari has stated.

He spoke when he officially received the victims at Government House Katsina.

He said their release was facilitated through same community efforts that comprise heads of security operatives.

According to him, “I told you that efforts are being made by the security agencies and the Katsina state government to secure the release of all those kidnapped in Katsina state.

“Last time it was 144 victims and when I was in Abuja, additional 37 were received and sent to Zamfara state because they are the indigenes of that State and today we received 9 who are indigenes of Niger Republic.

“Government would not relent in its effort to secure release of all kidnapped victims as well as to end kidnap activity and other related criminality in the State.

“Kidnapped victims and the activities of kidnappers in Katsina state will soon come to an end not only in Katsina state but in the country.”

The Governor denied government was negotiating with the bandits saying “all the releases were under zero conditions.” (The Nation)
