Youth Peace Building Foundation National PresidentCEO, Muhammad Aji Kabir
A civil society organisation, the Youth Peace Building Foundation, has petitioned President Muhammadu Buhari regarding the deteriorating security situation in the country as well as the impact on innocent and poor Nigerians.
In a statement signed by Muhammad Aji Kabir, its National President/CEO, the group said that though the government may have tried to tackle insecurity to an extent, it is hardly enough.
“In recent times, the activities of armed bandits in the North-West, Boko Haram in the North-East, kidnappers in the North-Central and other criminal activities in other parts of the country have made all efforts by the Federal Government abortive and thereby sabotaging the success of the ongoing war against insurgency as well as displacing so many families.
“I also request that as the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, that the morale of the armed forces and other security agencies be boosted. This will enhance their zeal to defend at all cost the integrity of Nigeria and Nigeria shall regain her lost glory.
“More so, it is important to remind you that you made a promise of youth inclusion in governance and, evidently enough, we have seen youth participation in your administration but there is still need to bring in more youths and women into governance. Also, youths should be more engaged in community and social intervention programmes.
“Conclusively, I want to thank you for your efforts towards making Nigeria as secure as possible. Together, we believe that sometime soon insecurity will be a thing of the past in Nigeria,” the statement added.
