Bandits went on rampage killing 15 vigilante members, kidnapped 18 people, wounded several others, ransacked households and carted away foodstuffs and animals.
The incidents occured in Randagi, Birnin Gwari Local Government and Mando, Chikun Local Government Areas of Kaduna State.
Speaking to Voice of Liberty on Thursday some members of Birnin Gwari Emirate Development Union (BEDU) said several houses were also set ablaze along with foodstuffs.
“The vigilante members were said to have responded to a distressed call, following the invasion of the communities by the bandits who came on motorcycles and with sophisticated arms and overpower the villagers.
“Some of the vigilante members who survived the attack but sustained various degrees of injury with some in critical condition, are receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospitals,” the members told Voice of Liberty.
Birnin Gwari Local Government in Kaduna State have been a den of bandits and kidnappers with citizens in various communities living in total fear and at the mercy of the criminals who kidnap for ransom, maim, rape women and girls, ransack houses, cart away farm products and animals, as well set houses ablaze at will.
