An auto crash on New Year day at Ihiala in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State has left 11 persons with varying degrees of injuries.
The accident which occurred opposite St Anthony’s Catholic Church involved six vehicles with a number of 52 occupants involved.
Vehicles involved in the accident include a Toyota Hiace bus with Reg No. AGB 268 ZT, Mark trailer with Reg. No. GWA 456 YR, Toyota Hiace bus with Reg No. NEN 106 XQ, Acura MDX jeep with Reg. No. NZM 764 LK, Macapolo luxury with Reg No. AKD 483 XF and a Hyundai jeep with Reg. No. EG 172 SMK.
According to an eye witness, the accident was as a result of over-speeding.
In another development, a Toyota L300 commercial bus with Reg. No. ACH 507 XA and a Toyota car with Reg. No. AWK 575 TK on Friday, crashed along Agulu-Nanka road in the state.
The auto crash which involved 15 persons was said to have occurred when one of the drivers was making calls while driving.
The Sector Public Education Officer (SPEO) of Anambra State Command, Florence N Edor, said that five persons sustained injuries and were taken to hospital for medical attention.
“The sector commander of the FRSC in Anambra State, Mr Andrew A Kumapayi, warns motorists against use of phones while driving,” she added.
