The Hunters Group of Nigeria has accused a local vigilance group, Obelle Security Planning and Advisory Committee, of killing one Prince Ned Chika, aka Bishop, in Obelle community, in the Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Speaking to journalists in Port Harcourt, the Ibaa unit commander of the hunters’ group, Emenike Ezekwu, alleged that the vigilantes also took the victim’s corpse away to conceal the crime.

He explained that Chika, who was one of his members, was killed while returning from a meeting.

He said, “On Wednesday, members of the Hunters Group of Nigeria went for a meeting at Omagwa in Ikwerre LGA. While returning from the meeting, we boarded four motorcycles. I was the first person that left the place before my members.

“While the last motorcycle was going to Obelle Roundabout around 3pm, one Chinelu came out and shot Chika. He was putting on his uniform; he shot him dead and took away his corpse.”

Ezekwu, who noted that the incident was not cult-related, added that he reported the matter to the police and the army.

“I took the army to the place and also made an entry at a police station. Up till now, I haven’t seen his corpse.

“This is not a cult clash. The guy who killed our man is a member of OSPAC in Ibaa and Obelle, and he decided to take the law into his hands and kill an innocent person,” he added.

The Emohua Commander of OSPAC, Emeka Wori, said he would verify what transpired before commenting.

A spokesman for the Rivers State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the incident, adding that the command was already investigating it.(The Punch)
