Oraifite Improvement Union (OIU), Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State has described former State Commissioner for Works, Hon. Azuka Okwuosa, as the best candidate to succeed the incumbent Governor Willie Obiano come 2023.

The union made the declaration during its end-of-the-year meeting held at Oraifite Civic Centre, pledging to support Okwuosa’s ambition until victory is achieved.

Addressing journalists after its meeting, a community leader, Prof Johnson Anene, said that the former Commissioner has the capacity to take Anambra State to higher heights, adding, “If given the support, Hon Okwuosa has all it takes to give Anambra better leadership.”

On her part, the women leader of the group, Mrs. Monica Nwabueze, said the women from all the four quarters of Oraifite had earlier jointly prayed for God to enthrone Hon Azuka Okwuosa as the next governor of Anambra state.

According to her, they have resolved to work for the success of his election come November 2021.

While describing Okwuosa as a worthy asset to the people of Oraifite and the state, she assured him of God’s protection and guidance.

Speaking at the event, Hon Okwuosa who used the occasion to distribute rice to the people for Christmas and declare his interest to contest the governorship election under the umbrella of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said that having served as the Commissioner for Works in Anambra State and one-time Chairman of Nnewi North Council, he knew what to do to put things in place for the benefit of the people.

He gave the assurance that he would get to the Government House, Awka to correct the anomalies in governance if supported.

Reeling out the achievements of his foundation under which the rice donation was made, Okwuosa said: “The foundation had built a first class specialist hospital, established skills acquisition centers, as well as give scholarships to indigent students, and lots more to ensure basic health care of the less privileged in society and to develop human capital as well as fight unemployment.”

He stressed that the basic motive of the skills acquisition ideology was to encourage self employment among the people, especially the youths.

The Anglican Bishop of Nnewi Diocese Anglican, Rt Rev Ndubuisi Obi, by Ven N. Igwenagu, thanked the Chairman of the foundation for his benevolence and provision for humanity for which none indigenes also benefitted from.
