The Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 presidential election, Mr. Peter Obi, has described Nigeria as a failed nationbecause of what he labelled as lack of capacity on the part of the leaders.

He said that when expired people are elected into positions of authority, they won’t know what to do when they get into office.

Speaking at an event in Awka, the Anambra State capital, to mark Senator Uche Ekwunife’s constituency briefing, Obi expressed doubt that Nigeria will recover from the current economic low down, saying that the country had been sick before the advent of COVID-19.

While equating Nigeria’s economic problems to a Covid-19 patient with underlying illness before the virus, he added: “Like a COVID-19 patient with underlying illness, instead of Nigeria’s problems getting better it is getting worse.

“Nigeria is not working because the leaders have no capacity. If expired people are elected they won’t know what to do when they get into office.”

The ex-governor of Anambra State said he supported Sen. Ekwunife because of her capacity to attract amenities or snatch them, noting that “she’s a goal getter”.

Reeling out her achievements as the Senator representing Anambra Central, Ekwunife said within one year, she has so far shared educational materials worth N100 million, shared 66 tricycles, rehabilitated schools, provided boreholes, constructed roads in 27 communities and facilitated 129 federal jobs, among many other achievements.

She however challenged people calling for road construction to note that constituency allowances are limited while urging them to send delegation to the State government for that.
