The vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 presidential election Mr. Peter Obi has expressed doubt of Nigerian recovering from the current economic quagmire because the country has been sick before now.

Obi who spoke at Senator Uche Ekwunife Event Center during Ekwunife’s constituency briefing likened Nigeria’s economic problems to a COVID-19 patient who had underlying illness before the virus.

According to him like a COVID-19 patient with underlying illness instead of Nigeria’s problems getting better it is getting worse.

The only way Nigeria can overcome its problems he said is for the people to elect people with capacity into office.

He said: “If anyone tells you that Nigeria is getting better, it is false. It is getting worse and will continue to get worse and only you and I can decide to change it.

“Nigeria is not working because the leaders have no capacity.

“If expired people are elected they won’t know what to do when they get into office”, he said.

He said he supported Senator Ekwunife because she can attract amenities or snatch them and that she is a goal gutter.

On her own Senator Ekwunife reeled out what she attracted to the senatorial district in the one year she has spent in office.

According to her she has so far shared educational materials worth N100 million, shared 66 tricycles, rehabilitated schools, provided boreholes, constructed roads in 27 communities and facilitated 129 federal jobs among many other things.

Ekwunife, however told those clamouring for roads that constituency allowances are limited and so they should send delegation to the State government for that. (Daily Independent)
