The Anambra State Government has lifted the suspension of five traditional rulers in the state that were part of the group of traditional rulers that travelled to Abuja to see President Muhammed Buhari.
The Monarchs include, Igwe Simon Ikechukwu Chidubem of Umumbo, Igwe A.N Onwuneme of Ikenna, Igwe Mark Anthony Okonkwo of Alor, Igwe Chukwuma Bob Vincent Orji of Ezinifite and Igwe S.O Uche of Ezira.
In a statement on Friday by the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Chief Greg Obi, said that the one year suspension of Igwe Kelly N. Nkeli of Igbariam,, Igwe Dr. Emeka Ilouno of Ifitedunu and Igwe Peter Uyanwa of Ukwulu will continue subject to future review as may be necessary.
According to him, the State Government also withdrew the certificate of recognition as traditional rulers of traditional rulers of Nawfia, Igwe Chijioke Nwankwo, Igwe Anthony Onyekwere of Owelle and Igwe G. B. C Mbakwe of Abacha.
He added: “Igwes whose certificates of recognition have been withdrawn are directed to submit their certificates of recognition to the Secretary of the local government of their communities within a month of this announcement.”
The monarchs allegedly embarked on the controversial journey at the behest of an Anambra business mogul who has been having running battles with the State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano.
