The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 13, Ukpo, Anambra State, Mr. Danmallam Mohammed, has said that society will benefit more from Police operations if there is synergy between the media and police.

He made the statement when the leadership of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Anambra State chapter paid him a courtesy call in his office at Ukpo, Dunukofia Local Government Area of the state.

The AIG urged members of the chapel to be objective in their reportage, saying that journalists should not only criticise but also proffer solutions that would help the police in discharging their duties more effectively.

“The support of the media to security agencies can help combat crime in Nigeria. The media is very critical in solving the problem of insecurity in the country,” he noted.

Mohammed solicited the cooperation of media practitioners in Anambra State towards the success of Police operations in providing security of lives and property.

In his speech, the Chairman of the chapel, Mr. Emma Ndukuba, said the visit was to formally welcome the AIG to the state.

While saying that members of the chapel were committed to contributing their quota to ensuring proper reportage of police activities, he expressed the chapel's readiness to partner with the police in quelling insecurity in the country.
