Determined to register itself in the heart of the banking public, Wema Bank Plc, has unveiled its new identity while pledging to remain innovative. The bank unveiled the new logo at all its branches nationwide on Monday.
Chairman, Wema Bank PLC, Adeyinka Asekun, assured stakeholders that the bank will continue to meet their expectations.
“The bank continues to re-enact itself and is ruggedly determined to remain at the cutting edge of outstanding service delivery and superior returns,” he said.
Speaking at the bank’s 70 anniversary celebration held in Lagos at the weekend, former Managing Director of Wema Bank and also former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Tunde Lemo said the bank was destined for improvement.
“When I moved to CBN in January 2004, there were 86 deposit money banks. Today, less than 20 of these banks are still surviving. The future is bright for Wema bank because this is a special brand. It is a very good brand and the worst times are over,” he said.
In explaining the reason for rebranding,Managing Director, Wema Bank PLC, Segun Oloketuyi said the bank had been through many phases in its corporate life, thanked for its current status in the industry.
“When I joined Wema bank, the description were old school, old bank, processes that are not working, no technology and innovation.
“We put in six years of work to reposition the bank so we gave a contemporary institution like others operating in the same industry. And having done that, we thought it fit to give a new look to Wema bank,” Oloketuye said.
