The people of Umuosu Ohuhu in Abia State are yet to recover from shock following the mysterious deathof a family of four and their landlady inside a four-bedroom bungalow. Three fowls were also found stone dead.
The victims were a 54-year-old Pastor, Godwin Onyenonachi Ihezuku Agwu, an only child of his late parents; his pregnant wife (about 35 years), Comfort; his two children: Emmanuel (11) and Miracle (13) and Mrs Hannah Okpara, the landlady who owned the bungalow.
The Pastor, though blind, was running a ministry, The Faith Tabernacle Ministry, unitl his ill-fated demise. The lifeless bodies of the victims were discovered in the morning of Sunday, April 19, 2015.
Fumes from the generating set and food poisoning are being suspected to have killed the victims. Policemen, who broke into the building, confirmed that the generating set kept at the passage of the building was still steaming when they arrived.
Many, on the contrary, believe there is more to the deaths than meet the eye as the deceased were found at different locations inside the building.
While the body of the Pastor was found at the dining room, those of his wife and daughter, Miracle, were found in the wife’s room while that of Emmanuel was found in the children's room with that of the landlady found near the generating set at the passage.
It was learnt that though the landlady does not reside together with the Pastor in the same building, she visits them often and sometimes have prayer sessions with them.
Family sources said the Pastor had that Saturday evening came to invite the landlady over to their apartment on the grounds that “his children were down.”
Corpses of the deceased have been deposited at the mortuary of Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia and the police said that the bodies have to be subjected to autopsy to determine the cause of the death.
