Obidike exchanging pleasantries with Senator Rochas Okorocha recently
The Founder/CEO of newly formed Nigeria Recovery and Restoration Council, a national peace and reconciliation initiatives platform, Odiegwu Obidike, has given reasons for its creation.
In a press statement, Obidike said: “We are glad to inform you that we have established a peace and reconciliation platform which is called Nigeria Recovery and Restoration Council.
It is an alternative disputes and conflicts restoration platform that we have established to bring all the segments of the Nigeria nation to discuss their opinions about the root causes of killings and their solutions for urgent aversion of further killings, genocide, bloodshed, ethnic cleansing, terrorism, slavery and waste of innocent blood of humans and Nigerians.
“We can’t afford another round of troubles and nationwide genocides as experienced during and after the #EndSARS protest; it will be too costly for our nation. It is unfortunate that all parties in this conflict are still threatening. So we have stepped forward with the Nigeria Recovery and Restoration Council as a platform that is driven by patriotism to mediate, calm all nerves, provide solutions, and restore normalcy and abort further planned unrest and killings.
“We have set up the Council to mediate in this deadly-dangerous situation in Nigeria today, to avoid further waste of human lives and resources.
“The representatives of the Federal Government, former Presidents, retired Generals, founding fathers, activists, human and civil rights groups, representatives of tribes, geo-political zones, aggrieved groups, terrorized communities, youths groups and every segment of the Nigeria nation and Nigerians in Diaspora, leaders of former militant groups and separatist groups.”
It further noted that: “It is expedient that every Aggrieved section of our Nigeria Society is brought to this peace discussion and negotiations table, and there is no better time for this national call and sacrifices than now.
"Some people might be worried about the large outreach and classes of proposed participants, but they are all part of our Nigeria of today and we must engage them positively if we must get genuine Peace in Nigeria.
“For the purpose of this peace process, we segmented Nigeria and Nigerians into 40 groups and categories, which detail you, can get from our website. Each of these categories has representatives and these representatives of groups are automatic members of Nigeria Recovery and Restoration Council.
“We also request and encourage Nigerians both within and in Diaspora to reach out to us for special representation if they have suggestions. People are equally encouraged to send in their grievances and opinions on the root causes of killings in Nigeria and their solutions.
“These options will surely assist and support our efforts to achieve sustainable and genuine national recovery, restoration, peace, unity, development, progress and industrialization, thereby returning Nigeria to her original place in the committee of nations.
“Let us team up to achieve peace in Nigeria because we in this organization cannot do it alone. We need each other and we need ourselves. We welcome you as you Partner with us in this great national task,” the statement noted.
