The controversy over the assistants for Super Eagles Coach Stephen Keshi is unnecessary and a distraction, his agent, Emmanuel Ado, has said.
“I want to confirm that Keshi is consulting all stakeholders – the NFF President, Chairman Technical, journalists and other stakeholders on the issue of his assistants and some other issues.
Keshi is asking questions to find out areas that he made mistakes. This should be expected,” Ado told News Express this morning.
He added: “Keshi is consulting. The final decision on his assistants and team is going to be his. But he must consult because he is not all knowing. It is about Nigeria. There will be no sentiment.”
“In his first coming there was no controversy on the issue of his assistants; I wonder why we are making an issue out of it now.
“We ask for prayers and support for the Super Eagles.
“The fans want to see the team return to their winning ways . . . playing well and winning. That is the challenge Keshi is facing headlong.
“Once Keshi makes his decision this will be communicated to Nigerian. He has tremendous respect for his team. But if for any reason anybody or all the previous members of his team are dropped we ask for understanding. His team include assistant coaches, Physiotherapists, Psychologist, Co-ordinator, etc.”
