The Oluomo of Isheri-Olofin Kingdom in Alimosho Federal Constituency of Lagos State, Prince Idris Balogun, has cried to the Inspector General of Police over threat to his life by some political actors in the constituency.
Speaking at a press conference in Lagos, he said that the reason for the threat to his life was ostensibly as a result of his ambition to remove his people from economic and political bondage and provide them qualitative representation.
According to him, his aspiration, which is constitutional, is now being seen as an affront by some powers that be in the constituency.
However, he said that as a law abiding citizen, he had tried to maintained the popular Yoruba saying that “one should remember the son of whom he is,” in spite of the physical and verbal provocations, following the announcement of his aspiration for the House of Representative in the Alimosho Federal Constituency.
“My intention as a youthful and energetic politician is to offer my people good and effective legislative representation through feedback mechanism than what they are presently experiencing, and this much I had consulted the said leaders before making my intention known. But instead they have labeled me a `bad leg` and set their ever ready political miscreants after me and my people.
“They resorted to political intimidation by harassing me and my followers with Police, and as I speak, they have unlawfully arrested and detained my aides for three days now without any charges against them. They are also defaming my person in the social media with the intention to distract me,” Prince Balogun said.
Speaking further, he said that the powers that be in the federal constituency are now using different attempts to silence dissenting and dissenting voices of the deprived and emasculated people who have refused to accept the injustice that has resulted to the underdevelopment of Alimosho rather than its development.
He said that they are aware that freedom is not served freely, adding that they would continue to struggle to regain their right from self-acclaim leaders in Alimosho who are trying to teleguide them because of their selfish interests and political money-making venture.
