Screen goddess Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde
Nigeria’s screen goddess, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, has revealed how she recently felt down and in dumps for two weeks running.
According to the 42-year-old Ondo State indigene born in Lagos and mother of four, she got so uninspired and was in the dumps which are clear signs of depression.
The Estate Management graduate from Yaba College of Technology who holds an honorary doctorate degree from Igbinedion University as well as a national honour of Member of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (MFR), made the disclosure during the week.
Although she did not say it expressedly, it is not unlikely that the depression came as a result of the killings of #EndSARS peaceful protesters at Lekki toll plaza in Lagos during the period.
To the former model, it was indeed a gloomy period, just as it was to most mothers.
But the actress who fondly refers to herself as Omosexy is beginning to pick up the bits and pieces of her life.
She captures her moods with a video posted on her Instagram page featuring a toddler catwalking on the runway:
“Have been in the dumps for weeks now feeling uninspired. Done! Picking back my crown and graciously walking up that runway. We win some, we lose some. Lessons learnt. This is life!”
Investigation by Maggie’s Blog however reveals that most Nigerian celebrities who were in the forefront of the #EndSARS protests, just like Omotola, have withdrawn to their shells since the sad event at Lekki toll plaza on Tuesday, October 20, 2020.
Unlike during the 12 days protests when they were vibrant on the social media, throwing their weight behind the peaceful protesters, most entertainers are now inactive on the social media.
Very few of them bother to make any posts these days, and those who manage to post, especially the ladies, only promote beauty products which they had been contracted to do before the advent of the protests which turned sour after 12 days.
