US President Trump
A judge in Georgia has dismissed a lawsuit filed by the Trump campaign that asked to ensure state laws were followed on absentee ballots.
It came as the president’s team in Nevada held a press conference to make allegations, without evidence, of widespread voter fraud.
The Trump campaign was asking to ensure state laws were followed on absentee ballots, but a judge struck down the suit on Thursday.
The suit alleged that the county may be mishandling ballots and therefore inadvertently mixing up ballots that arrived on time with ones that arrived late. The suit was based on one allegation from an out-of-state Republican poll observer and involved less than 60 ballots.
Meanwhile, a Pennsylvania court ruled that Trump campaign observers could stand closer to watch ballot processing in Philadelphia – a relatively inconsequential ruling that Trump campaign associates quickly touted as being a massive win.
Votes that could decide the state are still being counted there.
No court has found wrongdoing in the ballot-counting process in Philadelphia.
CNN elections analyst Franita Tolson said: “It allows their observers to stand a little closer, but it is not an order that will have any impact on the outcome of the election”, noting that the decision was “not massive at all”.
