Acting Inspector-General of Police, Ag. IGP Solomon E. Arase, has deployed additional senior police officers to supervise security of tomorrow’s re-run elections in Abia, Imo, Kogi, Delta and Taraba states.
This, according to Force Public Relations Officer, Ag. CP Emmanuel C.S. Ojukwu, is part of efforts by the Police High Command to ensure adequate security measures for the elections.
Ojukwu in a statement issued this afternoon in Abuja gave the additional deployments as follows:
*To Abia State: One Deputy Inspector-General of Police, One Assistant Inspector-General of Police and Two Commissioners of Police.
*To Imo State: One Assistant Inspector-General of Police and Three Commissioners of Police.
*To Taraba State: Two Assistant Inspectors-General of Police and Two Deputy Commissioners of Police.
News Express reports that the re-run and supplementary polls in Abia, Imo and Taraba are for the governorship positions while the ones in Delta and Kogi are for State House of Assemblymen. The elections were declared inconclusive after the initial ballot of April 11.
