As part of effort to revitalise and ensure smooth running of health sectors in the state, the Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Health recently visited State Hospitals Management Board (HMB) for oversight functions.

The Chairman, Labaran Usman, led the seven-man committee members during the visitation. The Chief Medical Director, Dr. Usman George Dangana, and members of the State Hospitals Management Board welcomed the members to the board.

They said they have been working relentlessly to uplift the standard of health institutions in the state and applauded the legislators for the efforts they have taken to replace Edict 12 of 1998 establishing the HMB to Law establishing HMB, memo for replacement of staff due to staff attrition to promote provision of standardised health care service delivery in General Hospitals.

Meanwhile, the Director Administration and Supplies of the HMB, Hankuri Namo, in his opening remarks welcomed the house committee for their usual visits aimed at refurbishing health institutions, he took turn to introduced HMB management staff.

Responding, the Chairman House committee on health thanked the management of the board for their warm reception of the committee members, stating that the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Abdullahi Balarabe, permitted the House to go on oversight visit to check budget performance for the year 2020 as plans are ongoing for the presentation of the 2021 budget appropriation.

He also explained that the purpose of their visit was to rub minds together with the board management to better improve health care service delivery, disclosing that the bill for the law establishing HMB has passed second reading.

More so, the CMD updated the House members of its budget performance for the year 2020, stating that the board has shortage of skilled manpower and efforts are ongoing for replacement, reiterating the success of drugs revolving scheme.

Responding, the committee members commended the CMD of HMB for revenue generated thus far and encourage him to keep up the good work.

The same light the CMD responded by saying the success was the result of collective efforts from him and his staff, explaining that he was able to achieve the milestone because of their commitment and zeal to work.
