As anger over the alleged neglect of card-carrying members of the Abia State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC), by President Muhammadu Bahari’s administration continues to grow in the state, the state chairman of the party, Donatus Nwankpa said on Sunday that the party will soon petition the President to demand for its fair share in the allocation of resources and dividends of democracy.

Addressing party faithful in Umuomainta Nbawsi in Isiala Ngwa North LGA of the state, Nwankpa regretted that the APC followers in the state who helped the President to win the 2019 election have been abandoned and neglected and therefore asked him “to look into their plight with a view to addressing it.

“A lot of our members from this state are suffering because of neglect. The Pres-ident should look into that because we don’t want a situation whereby we’ll stake all we have in an election and at the end, nothing comes out of it. We are already feeling disillusioned and angry,” he posited.

Nevertheless, the APC chairman in Abia State expressed optimism that the party will produce the next governor for the state because of the poor performance of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in office since May 2015.

“When we takeover Abia Government House, Umuahia come 2023, I’m assuring all of you that the party will be transparent in all its actions. We’ll also carry everybody along”.

“The sensitization is to build your conscience on what it should be. Abia is not what it should be. We are talking about fair, proper and effective management of Abia resourc¬es,” he added.

On the fees imposed by the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) for the December 2020 chairmanship and councillorship polls in the state, Nwankpa announced its rejection by the party.

The electoral body had pegged collection of chairmanship forms by aspirants to N500,000 while that of councillors are pegged at N100,000. However, the APC chairman queried the rational for the collection of the huge amount by the electoral umpire, arguing that since it is neither a revenue collecting agency nor tax regulation firm, but only an electoral body, it should not charge exorbitant fees for contestants.
