Residents of Maraba Rido in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State have lamented the constant invasion of their area by gunmen who come to kidnap some people in the area.
Some residents disclosed that most of them who are property owners have deserted their homes for fear of being abducted by gunmen.
A resident in the area disclosed to independent that a pastor had been killed while his daughter was taken away by the gunmen.
The resident name withheld revealed to newsmen that the late pastor was among the residents who organised themselves to into a community watch to safeguide the people in the area.
According to him, “He was with other residents at the community watch when he heard the shout of his wife and daughter being abducted.”
“It was while going to find out what had happened to his family that he was shot by the gunmen”, the resident revealed.
“We live in constant fear, our families have been relocated to other areas, while some of us have put up our houses for sale. But no-one is ready to buy even below the amount we built.”
“Who wants to expose his family to such danger. We sleep with our eyes open.”
Independent learnt that the name of the pastor is Rev. Yohanna Abashiya.
It was gathered that the deceased was the Resident Pastor of Baptist Church in the community.
Reverend Yohanna Abashiya was pastoring at Baptist Church Agui Under Maraban Rido Kaduna state.
Independent learnt that the kidnappers are yet to communicate with the family of the kidnapped girl.
Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer Mohammed Jalige proved abortive as his line was busy. (Daily Independent)
