As the nation prepares for Ondo elections which comes up next weekend, frontline right activists, Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre (RULAAC) has raised alarm over some suspicious characters that have taken over the capital city of Akure that need to be investigated.

The group therefore called on the Inspector General of Police to take action as regards this to avoid impending mayhem on the state.

A press statement on Saturday signed by Okechukwu Nwanguma, Executive Director titled, “Election security alert, Re: Ondo State Governorship Election, October 10, 2020”, the group said, “Independent election observers on the ground in Ondo State have informed that there are some people lodged at Sunview hotel, Alagbaka, Akure, for about a week and probably for the next one week.

“They don’t look like regular lodgers. They look suspicious with their mannerisms, outlook and appearances as political thugs, probably kept there for next Saturday’s governorship election.

“They are mostly lodged at the extension of the hotel. It is imperative that the IGP sends a surveillance team to the hotel as a preemptive measure,” the statement noted.
