Governor Makinde
A socio-cultural group, the Oyo Democratic Alliance (OYDA), has commended Governor Seyi Makinde for heeding to its call to investigate and audit the financial transactions of the 68 local government areas and the local council development authorities (LCDAs) of the state from their first day of inception in office, describing the step as “a welcome development.”
In a statement signed by its Coordinator, Wole Adedoyin, OYDA further advised the Governor to allow the recently constituted committee to receive petitions from the members of the public who may have one or two things against the performance of the Caretaker Chairmen being investigated.
OYDA had last week urged Makinde to audit the financial transactions of the 68 LGAs and the LCDAs headed by the Caretaker Chairmen.
According to OYDA, the auditing process should be targeted at improving probity and accountability in the 68 LGAs and LCDAs of the state.
Gov Makinde had last Wednesday inaugurated a Performance Audit Committee for Local Government Administration in the state.
The committee is headed by a former Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly and immediate past Senator representing Oyo Central, Sen. Monsurat Sunmonu.
Other members of the committee include the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Chief Bayo Lawal; Prof. Kolapo Hamzat, Mr. Joseph Olaitan and Mr. Aderemi Akintola.
