Gombe State Governor, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya and his predecessor, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo are in disagreement over an uncompleted N6 billion motor park project.

Governor Yahaya had on Tuesday berated his predecessor, Ibrahim Dankwambo, for abandoning a N6.2 billion “mega motor park” project started at the beginning of his (Dankwambo) administration in 2012.

He alleged that the execution of the project was full of deceit because some aspects of the job that were supposed to be done at the end, were already done even when the project had not reached 43 per cent completion level.

“Whoever sees this knows that there was a deceitful intention, because some parts of the building were already painted even when civil works on the structures were not completed.

“The project is for N6.2 billion by our estimation and it was started in 2012 to be completed in 2014, but because of the lackadaisical attitude of the last administration, they started and abandoned it and as it is today, close to N3 billion has already been paid,” he stated.

However, responding via his verified Facebook page, former Governor Dankwambo urged Inuwa Yahaya to focus on good governance rather than blame game and propaganda.

Daily Trust reports that it was the first time Dankwambo responded to numerous allegations and blames against his administration by the current governor since assumption to office on May 29, 2019.

Dankwambo said, “The current governor of Gombe (Inuwa Yahaya) has power to do whatsoever he wants to do. I have been there for eight years and I’m tired of his propaganda against me. How can someone say because a project is uncompleted, it is wasted? The governor is not a polished man.

“APC government needs to stop the blame game and focus on governance. You can’t promise the people Eldorado and still be governing with propaganda because you are unable to deliver on your false promises to them.

According to him, the mega motor park was primarily conceived to checkmate the activities and frequent attack of Boko Haram insurgents on several motor parks, “as there was a need then to have a centralized park.”

Dankwambo added he has done his bit as governor of the state, saying it is time for Inuwa Yahaya to deliver on his promises to the people. (Daily Trust)
