Member representing Ezza-south/Ikwo Federal Constituency of Ebonyi State, Hon. Chinedu Ogah, has called on the National Publicity Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to tender an unreserved apology to the Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, for using unjust and criminating words on him and asking him to resign from office.
Ogah made the call in Abuja while notifying the PDP National Publicity Secretary the height of success achieved so far by the Speaker.
The lawmaker noted that since the inception of democracy, Gbajabiamila is the best performing Speaker Nigeria ever had.
He maintained that the Speaker has performed above average as a legislator, describing him as the Speaker that supervises all other committees and has always wanted other committees to do their jobs.
He decried the activities of the oppostion as uncalled describing the PDP as an undemocratic agent looking for ways possible to bring disenchantment to exalted parliament.
Ogah maintained that the Speaker had not in any way stopped any investigation in the parliament that warranted the unguided ulterances on him.
According to him, the 9th National Assembly is the only parliament that has unveiled a lot of things in Nigeria; that has been supportive especially in the area of fight against corruption which has been the focal point of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
“For the Publicity Secretary of the PDP to call for the resignation of the speaker, accusing him of any stoppage over investigations is the highest form character assassination.
“The Constitution of Nigeria has a recess expecting the National Assembly Members to be either on vacation or at their various constituencies.
“It’s only some of the committees that have some bad acts against the rules and regulations, instead of them to work with the rules, where a motion moved in the house and other committees were put together to investigate and a particular committee single-handedly did, that is a dubious act and a big slap on the parliament.”
The All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker cautioned the opposition PDP to be warned and focus on the direct criticisms on democracy and stop attacking democracy.
