The All Progressives Congress presidential candidate in the just-concluded elections, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, has urged the party’s supporters to avoid molestation of opponents in their celebration.
This is contained in a statement released in Abuja on Tuesday and signed by the Director Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation, Malam Garba Shehu.
It warned that anybody happy with the victory of the APC in the presidential election would not be involved in the molestation of opponents or the destruction of their property.
The statement quoted Buhari as saying that Nigerians have chosen him and his party through their votes, adding that they should remain calm.
The statement also noted that the party declared victory after President Goodluck Jonathan called Buhari at 5:15 p.m.
“The mood of the country as well as its current state does not warrant the type of wild celebrations reportedly going on in some cities across the country.
“Anybody happy with the victory of the APC in the presidential election will not be involved in the molestation of opponents or the destruction of their property.
“He or she is not with me, whoever does that,” the statement quoted Buhari as saying.
Buhari thanked Nigerians and the party’s supporters for their massive votes for him and the party. (NAN)
