AIG Zone 13 Mohammed Danmallam
By CHARLES IWUOHA
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has urged governments and residents within Anambra, Ebonyi and Enugu States to support the newly created Police Zone 13 with intelligence information to succeed.
The Deputy Coordinator of NANS Zone B, Mr Darlington Ugwuegbe, made the call while speaking with newsmen in Enugu on Monday.
Ugwuegbe said that there should be no competition when it comes to security of lives and property; but synergy and cooperation to deliver a safe environment for business and other human endeavours to strive.
According to him, the leaders and governments in the zone needed to support the police as it get closer to the people by having a new zone and with fewer states for efficient security operational coordination.
He, however, lauded the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Mohammed Adamu, for merging all states from the old Anambra State – Enugu, Ebonyi and Anambra states – under a single security administrative and operational coordination.
The coordinator also thanked the IGP for appointing a tested and trusted hand in the security circle in the person of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Mr Mohammed Danmallam.
He said that NANS was convinced that Danmallam would deliver a crime-free zone within some time as he had done in various states commands he had headed as former commissioner.
“AIG Danmallam is one of the best senior police officers in the country. Going through his resume and track record; one cannot but give him all the kudos and credits.
“He is someone whom is not moved by material things neither can he be swayed with money. At every given point in time, he advocates for justice and abhors favouritism, nepotism or tribalism.
“When he was the Commissioner of Police in Enugu State; he demystified security and made Enugu State the most peaceful state in Nigeria through his people-oriented, proactive and professional ways of handling security matters.
“When he was posted to Edo State as commissioner, the state which was hitherto a den of criminals became a safe abode for all,” the NANS Zone B Deputy Coordinator said.
