President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Reverend Samson Olasupo Ayokunle, on Monday visited Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufa’I, expressing readiness to partner government towards bringing an end to killings in Southern Kaduna.

Ayokunle, who noted the crises predate the El-Rufai’s administration, advised the government to find lasting solutions to the crisis by learning from the past to draw a roadmap for the future.

The CAN President, who presented an 8-points recommendations to ending the crises, pointed out the degenerating situation has made people to tag it religious or ethnic because it “has given them room to say whatever they are saying.’’

While urging the government to bring the killers to book, he noted with dismay the rate of prosecution so far is not proportional with the frequency of attacks.

According to him: “Whoever attacks first and whoever is doing reprisal are both criminals that must be made to face the wrath of the law.’’

The eight-point recommendations by the CAN leader include: stoppage of accusations and counter accusations; nabbing bandits before disappearance; recovery of arms from criminals; deployment of technology to track the criminals; investigation of bandits sources of ammunition and community healing.

El-Rufai expressed sadness over the loss of lives in totally unnecessary frenzy of communal attacks, reprisals and revenge.

He welcomed the visit of the CAN leadership and promised to consider recommendations by Ayokunle for implementation. (The Nation)
