The Nigerian military has confirmed the liberation of Boko Haram’s stronghold Gwoza, Borno State. The terrorists had upon the take-over of Gwoza proclaimed it the headquarters of their Caliphate.

Confirming News Express’ story on the recapture of Gwoza, a tweet from the Twitter handle of Defence Headquarters said: “DefenceInfoNG: FLASH: Troops this morning captured Gwoza destroying the Headquarters of the Terrorists self styled Caliphate.ª#‎NeverAgain”

Director of Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade, is expected to address the media on the development today.
