A 72 years old ailing man on Friday afternoon died onboard Air Peace flight from Calabar to Abuja airport.
It was learnt that the septuagenarian who was on his way to Abuja for continuation of his medical check-up for paraplegia due to spinal injury since 2019 was travelling died before he could disembark from the flight in Abuja.
Mr. Stanley Olisa, the spokesman of Air Peace confirmed the incident to our correspondent on phone.
He however said that officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) confirmed the diseased fit to fly before boarding the flight.
He emphasised that the health condition of the diseased deteriorated onboard.
He explained that the flight landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) at 3pm.
“The passenger was certified fit to fly by FAAN officials at the airport before he was allowed to fly. But, he developed a medical condition in-flight.
“On arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport Abuja, we urgently notified officials of Port Health Service at the airport who confirmed the death and took the remains of the passenger to the hospital for the necessary protocols.
“Air Peace has thoroughly decontaminated its aircraft and Port Health is on top of the situation.”(INDEPENDENT)
