The current Vice Chairman of Ukanafun Local Government Council in Akwa Ibom, Mr. Effiom Abai, and three other suspects, have been arrested and detained at the State Police Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia in Uyo.
The trio are held as key sponsors of the recent murder of the former Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Okon Uwah at Nkek village in Ukanafun Local Government Area.

Meanwhile, elders and leaders of thoughts of Ukanafun, have risen from a crucial meeting at Ikot Akpa Nkuk, the headquarters of the council area, condemning the murder of the former Deputy Speaker, and urging the police and other security operatives in the state to ensure that all the assailants are promptly apprehended and brought to justice, in the interest of sustained peaceful co-existence in the area.
News Express recalls that the late law maker was murdered in cold blood at Ward Three in Nkek, his in-laws community in Ukanafun LGA where he had gone for a house-to-house campaign for Ukanafun State Constituency seat at the State House of Assembly, on the platform of an opposition party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) for the April 11, 2015 general election.
The ex-law maker was said to have absconded from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to the minority party, when he failed at the PDP primaries in the area.
