Unidentified gunmen in the early hours of today abducted Mr. Joseph Agama, younger brother to Mrs. Diezani Allison-Madueke, Minister of Petroleum Resources.

Mr. Asinim Butswat, Police Spokesman for Bayelsa Police Command, confirmed the development. He said that the police has swung into action to free the victim.

According to Butswat, the Command received a report of the incident early earlier today from the victim’s father, Mr. Maxwell Agama.

Butswat said that the incident occurred at about 12:30 at Yenaka Community, a coastal settlement in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa.

Community sources said that the armed gunmen had anchored a speedboat at the community jetty and left with the victim to an unknown destination.

Mrs. Osiyo Agama, sister to the Minister of Petroleum Resources, was kidnapped in October 2014 and later rescued by a combined team of Joint Task Force and Department of State Security Services.
