DIG Celestine Okoye cutting the tape to inaugurate the new Zone 13 Command headquarters, Anambra
By PAMELA EBOH, Awka
The newly created Zone 13 Command Headquarters of the Nigeria Police located at Ukpo,Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State, was on Wednesday inaugurated by the police.
The Command cited in the country home of oil mogul, Prince Arthur Eze, will serve Enugu and Ebonyi states.
Inaugurating the new zone, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, commended Prince Arthur Eze for his efforts in attracting the zonal headquarters to Ukpo. He said that the police chose the best hand in Dan Mallam Mohammed to head the new zonal headquarters.
The Inspector General, represented by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Celestine Okoye, added that it would soon commission a Mobile Base at Nsugbe, Anambra-East Council Area of the state.
Earlier in his speech, Eze expressed appreciation for the siting of the zonal headquarters in his country home.
He also hailed President Mohmmadu Buhari for his good intentions towards Igbo people.
On his part, the Traditional Ruler of Ukpo Community, Igwe Robert Eze, praised the effort of the facilitator, Prince Arthur Eze, and pledged to support the police in carrying out its duties.
The new zone is headed by AIG Danmallam Mohammed.
The state Governor, Chief Willie Obiano was however absent at the event.
Information has it that his absence may not be far from the alleged disagreement between him and the oil mogul over the location for the siting of the new Zone.
Feelers have it that while Obiano wanted the new police zone headquarters sited at his hometown, Aguleri, Eze preferred Ukpo.
