Joint Task Force intensifies strategy against Boko Haram

The Multinational Joint Task Force (MJTF), comprising Nigeria, Chad and Niger, have met in Nigeria to further strategise on the operations of the task force fighting the Boko Haram terrorists in the North-Eastern part of Nigeria.

Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Badeh, said the meeting was sequel to the previous ones held in N’djamena, Chad and Niamey in Niger to fine-tune areas in the operations where there were difficulties.

He said that the session would be a truth-telling one to ensure that the operations run smoothly and continue to achieve the desired results.

In attendance at the meeting were the Chief of Defence Staff for Chad, Lieutenant General Brahim Seif, and that of Niger, Lieutenant General Garba Seyni.

The Nigerian Army had on February 6 signed an operational agreement with Chadian Army to intensify efforts aimed at ending the activities of the terrorist group, Boko Haram in the north-eastern part of Nigeria.

The memorandum of understanding was signed at a meeting held in Abuja between Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshall Badeh and his Chadian counterpart, Major-General Ibrahim Seid Mahamat, to straighten modalities for the counter terrorism operations along the Nigeria-Chad border.
