AIG Zone 2, Ahmed Iliyasu and Amarachi
By SUNNY OKIM
The young lady, Amarachi whose stepmother Mrs Ugochi Okey-Ezeala brutalised by pouring steaming
hot water on her body is crying out for justice as she alleges that the police is conniving with her bank manger father to bury the matter.
A report published byNews Expresson Tuesday with headline,"Bank manager's new wife pours hot water on step daughter •Girl's mother died of breast cancer few months ago”had immediately sparked off series of reactions from Nigerians with no arrest made by the law enforcement agents till date.
News Expressgathered that the matter was reported at Ikoyi Divisional HQ located on Oba Elegushi Street (CPD crime Division).
After the report, some police officers from the station purportedly accompanied the complainants to the family house where the incident took place but the police were denied entry as the brutal new wife and her bank manager husband (father of the victim) locked up all entrances to the house.
The police officers returned to the station and up till the time of filing this report, neither has any arrest been made nor parties to the case invited for questioning by the police.
The victim is now alleging that the police is conniving to bury the matter as her father Mr
Okechukwu Kingsley Ezeala, a manager with First City Monument Bank on the island part of Lagos, might have used his influence on the police.
Speaking through a close family friend, Amarachi toldNews Express, "I know my father has used money to buy those police officers in order to protect his new wife. Ever since that day when his new wife poured hot water on me and burnt my body, the police has not come back to make any enquiries. They want to bury the matter."
News Expressundercover went to the said police station to find out if indeed the case was reported there, a woman police officer on duty admitted that a case of a woman who poured hot water on her stepdaughter was actually reported at the station.
But as if she suddenly realised she had given out a vital information, she said, "Excuse me, who are you. Can I see your ID card?"
Our undercover claimed she forgot to carry along her identification card from home. And the officer said, "Sorry, no more discussion."
News Expresshas it on good note that Amarachi's brutal stepmother, Mrs Ugochi Okey-Ezeala who is said to work with Falomo Hospital, Lagos left home a day after the incident and has not returned.
A reliable source hinted that the woman is in hiding somewhere in Ogba area of Lagos where her brother by name Anyadike lives, waiting for the matter to die down.
News Expresscontacted the Police Public Relations Officer Zone 2 (which is in charge of Lagos and Ogun States), Dolapo Badmus, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), to comment on the matter, but the message was yet to be replied as at press time.
