Chairman of the Eze’s Council, Ngor Okpala Council of Traditional Rulers, in Imo State, Eze Geoffrey Onyewuchi Okoro, has expressed their gratitude to the Governor of Imo State, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, for appointing their son, Hon. Mayor Obinna Nweke, as the Interim Management Committee Chairman (IMC), Ngor Okpala Local Government Area.
While paying a solidarity visit to the IMC Chairman, the traditional rulers said the aim of their visit to the IMC Chairman was to identify with him and most importantly to assure him of their unflinching support for Sen. Uzodimma.
While welcoming the Ndi Eze Ngor Okpala at the local government council headquarters, the Chairman of the IMC, Chief Nweke, applauded the traditional rulers for identifying with the prosperity government of Governor Hope Uzodimma. He explained that he had always had them in mind and had wanted to be with them, but for the challenges posed by the COVID-19 global pandemic.
He emphasised that he had always seen it as a priority to synergise with Ngor Okpala Traditional Rulers, with a view to moving the LGA forward. He promised to work in cordial relationship with them at all times.
Chief Nweke thereafter requested to know from the Traditional Rulers if there were issues of concern in their various communities.
In his response, EzeGeorge Okezuo Nwosu expressed dismay at the level of damage herdsmen and their cows are causing across various communities in the LGA, pointing out that his community would appreciate it if the situation can be taken care of in the most peaceful manner possible.
On his part, Eze Hyacinth Nwamadi, Mma 11 of Eziama Autonomous Community, highlighted the deplorable condition of the health centre in his community and sought government urgent intervention.
The IMC Chairman, Chief Mayor Nweke, thanked the traditional rulers for pointing out some of these problems.
On the issue of the damage caused by herdsmen and their cows, Chief Nweke demanded communities that were affected to forward their report to him officially, so that he could handle the matter appropriately.
Regarding the dilapidated Eziama Health Centre, Chief Nweke gave the assurance that the health centres which are in bad conditions would be fixed in a very short time.
