The Igbo Community Association in Zamfara has condemned the killing of a Consultant Gynecologist with Federal Medical Center, Gusau, Dr Enoch Okpara, by unknown criminals.
The Eze Igbo in Zamfara, Chief Egbuna Obijiaku, made the condemnation on Monday when he led the Igbo leaders in the state on a condolence visit to the deceased family.
Obijiaku described the incident as “unfortunate and worrisome”.
“We were shocked when we heard that one of Igbo community members from Abia state, Dr Enoch Okpara was killed by some criminals at his resident last Thursday.
“Dr Okpara just completed building of this house, making arrangement to bring his family to the state from Abia but was killed by criminals.
“We condemn this ugly action; we are calling on security agencies in the state especially the police, to conduct thorough investigation and ensure arrest of the perpetrators,” he said.
He also called for improvement of general security of the state.
“The state government has been making efforts towards tackling the issue of insecurity which reduced to a minimal level until the time of recent COVID-19 lockdown where we are witnessing something like this,” he noted.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the deceased was killed by unknown criminals at his residence in Mareri area, Gusau on Thursday. (NAN)
