Change agent Daniel Ukwu

A non-governmental organisation, Daniel Ukwu Leadership Foundation, has urged political office holders to implement programmes and policies beyond party lines to engender common good.
The Executive Director of the Foundation, Mr. Daniel Ukwu, made the call on Friday in Enugu while speaking with newsmen on the new national Democracy Day.
According to him, with June 12 and its lessons, our new level of creative thinking must shift from party interest to national interest in all decision process.
Ukwu noted that Democracy Day was shifted from May 29 to June 12 for good political reason, which breeds justice for all Nigerians.
“For Nigeria to move forward under our dependable leader President Buhari, we must shift our level of thinking as a nation to a new level, where open discussion of political and social issues is key to healthy unity.
“Society works very much like marriage in the sense that open communication facilitates harmony,” he said.
He noted that most times Nigerians act much like warring spouse who want nothing more than to get rid of each other.
Ukwu said: “We need a new level of thinking, a deeper level of thinking to solve these deep concerns.
“Following recent event of COVID-19, which has brought all human-related socio-economic and political ideologies to a standstill, we need new level of thinking to overcome the adverse consequences of COVID-19.”
Ukwu said that June 12 should reshape and refocus the nation on new level of thinking such as: “What is the Nigeria dream. What is our new economic blue-print agenda following COVID-19 pandemic. How long can we continue to depend on external loan from foreign countries to survive and move our country forward economically?”
He urged the present political, technocratic, business and civil society leaderships to leave a legacy, “which our children unborn will remember our generation with.
“Just as the whole nation is remembering Chief MKO Abiola as the greatest leader in Nigeria and loved by all after he crossed over our primordial religious, tribal, class and clan cleavages.”
It would be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019 recognised the outcome of June 12, 1993, Presidential Election and declared June 12 as national Democracy Day.
