The problems the country, Nigeria, is facing today is caused by the arrogance and ineptitude of the so-called Northern leaders. They have foolishly and wickedly arrogated the right to rule to themselves. They never considered the temperance and dispositions of other ethnic groups and components of the federation. They have always imposed their will against the others with utter disrespect to the constitution and rule of law, based on their numerical strength. They forgot that the constitution contained other provisions that limit the overriding influence of numerical strength in political issues. The North had always rallied round AREWA myth to echo one voice of the Super North. The South had always reasoned along West and East divergence but today that narrative is changing and the Super North which a few individuals had held the country at juggler, is already jittery. They forced the south to have one voice and that one voice will not silenced again. That means the game is up. Divide and rule is bound to destroy the rulers themselves. They created the monster we call insecurity today. They wanted to destabilize and terminate Jonathan's administration at all cost. Now they can't openly call evil by the name. Many of the so-called leaders have been making unguarded statements of their famed conquest of other ethnic groups and coveting their lands. This approach or method of conquest and expansionism is obsolete: nations speak of technological and economic conquests such as China is doing today. The north are backward, they know it but their leaders are lethargical to do the needful: if they stimulate economic prosperity their people will become informed, empowered and will revolt against their hegemony. Because of their gluttonous appetite, they want to drag everybody into their ship of backwardness. Imagine open grazing in the 21st century! And federation government is silently in support but subtly voicing RUGA, on whose land??? The North and their leaders sowed the wind and are now raping the whirlwind!!!!

Nice write up good big English. But u have not really said much regarding the menace of open grazing in the region. The south goes to the north and do business there. Nothing is given to any southerner free. Shops are bought and paid for, lands for building of houses where they live are bought and paid for. The southerner are mostly responsible for the development of the north when it comes to infrastructure. So why should the southern states give their land freely to private herders to rear their cattle? They Fulani can rear their cattle in the north and still be able to export to the south for sale and the business will still go on. They must not raise the cattles in the south in order to sale them or do business. No one is stopping any group from doing business but in order to stop the farmer herder conflict open grazing has to be banned . The lives and businesses of the farmers also matters
