The Transformational Culture Change project embarked on by the Enugu Electricity Distribution PLC (EEDC) has been described as one that will bring about transformation and holistic development in the South East zone.

The General Manager, Community and Social Development Project (CSDP), Abia State, Dr. Chinatu Njoku expressed his confidence in Umuahia while giving his goodwill message at the formal launch of the Transformational Culture Change project for staff of EEDC, under its Umuahia District, at the weekend.

Njoku, who expressed his excitement over the noble initiative, identified EEDC as critical to his organisation’s operation, stating that as a World Bank Assisted agency, they have close to one hundred community projects in electricity, which they depend of EEDC to execute.

“If communities implement projects and they are not energized, we are in trouble, that is why I say that I am excited”

In his remarks, the Managing Director/CEO, EEDC, Mr. Okey Nwosu, appreciated Dr. Njoku for the confidence he exhumed towards the Culture Change initiative and assured him that they as customers will begin to experience this new attitude injected in the operations of EEDC.

He equally charged every staff of the organization to embrace the culture change and do away with the old ways of doing things, reminding them that the customer should always be at the centre of all we do.

Nwosu reminded staff of the mandate from the Board to change our attitude and ensure we uphold integrity in all we do; emphasising the importance of the project to the success of the organisation.

He also encouraged staff to begin to communicate the change to customers, both in words and deeds.

Highlight of the event was the unveiling of the new Core Purpose and Core Values of the organization to members of staff.

Early January, EEDC engaged the services of Parsifal Partners, a Transformational Culture Change Consultant to assist the company with the project.

The consultant had extensive engagement with members of staff, customers and contractors, and arrived at the fact that most of the problems the company is contending with has to do with negative attitude to work by staff of the company.

News Express recalls that EEDC had the inaugural launch of its Transformational Culture Change project on the 9th of July, 2019 at its Corporate Headquarters in Enugu, where 100 Change Ambassadors were formally inaugurated, with a mandate to drive the process and ensure that other staff within their respective areas conform with the new culture.

As a strategic way of ensuring that this culture cascades down to the most junior staff of the organisation, the Management thought it wise to carry out the launch across its 18 District Offices within the five South East states.

The District launch ended on Friday, with that of Abakaliki District, and witnessed large turnout of staff who were all excited and expressed their commitment in making this Culture Change initiative a success.

Customers of EEDC have been encouraged to look out for this new culture change in its operations and not to hesitate in bringing to the attention of its Management report of any of its staff that is not living up to expectation.
