No less than 55 kidnapping victims in the state of Zamfara have been rescued in the last two weeks by security agents in the state.

Addressing the journalists at the state police command headquarters in Gusau, the police commissioner, Mr. Usman Nagogo, explained that the security agents did not rescue the kidnapped victims by confronting the armed bandits and the police. notorious kidnappers, but through dialogue and negotiations.

He said that 23 of the victims were rescued between Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 of this month, saying that the rescued victims are being treated in the medical facilities of the Government House and that they will soon be reunited with their families by Governor Bello Muhammed. Matawalle

“This shows us that the ongoing dialogue and reconciliation in the state work perfectly. It will be naive for us to say that the attacks have stopped 100% in the state, but judging from the fact that the banditry in the state has been going on for more than ten years, in a space of three weeks the attacks reduced to minimum.

“We are not living in the world of illusion to assume that we can stop the issue of banditry and militia activities in a short space of time,” he said.

The commissioner revealed that the current crisis in the Emirate of Bimini Magaji reappeared after the murder of seven Fulani people in the Emirate, which, according to him, provoked a violent reaction of the armed bandits.

Speaking further, the Nagogo PC stressed that the situation changed from cattle theft to villain burning, food, mutilations and murders of the elderly, women and children, which he said also led to the deprivation of farmers who cultivate their agricultural land in the area.

“However, both the militia groups and the armed bandits, including their Ardos, met under a common umbrella and we are exchanging greetings and courtesies,” he said. (Agency report)
