The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has commended its members in Canada for the huge turnout “and awesome reception” given to its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, on June 8 and 9, 2019 in Toronto, Canada.

The group said that Biafrans living in United States of America and Canada have proven through Kanu’s visit and townhall meetings that they are fully determined, united and committed to the pursuit of Biafra independence as undisputedly championed by IPOB.

A statement by IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, observed that Nigeria’s reputation has been left in tatters as the world has shown that terrorism tag against IPOB “is meaningless foolish”.

The statement reads in part: “Nigeria has been thoroughly disgraced by IPOB culminating in the exclusion of President Biafra from the forthcoming US-Africa Summit.

“Regardless of the intimidation, arrest, killings and massacre orchestrated and designed to humiliate Biafrans by the Fulani dictators running Nigeria government and her security agencies, we continue to march relentlessly to our preordained destination of Biafra freedom.”

The group further thanked Biafran veterans and various Igbo groups in Canada for the respect, honour and recognition given to its leader during the event.

IPOB noted that its leader have so far successfully mobilised and united Biafrans living in North America under one common purpose saying that he will continue to hold townhall meetings and private consultations in the coming weeks.

The statement disclosed that Kanu’s next meeting will be in the cities of Los Angeles California, Houston Texas, Chicago and New York “where he will be rounding up this historic tour of North America”.

IPOB urged Biafrans both home and in the Diaspora to continue to provide strong support and security for its leader during these times.

It also said that the High Command and Directorate of State (DOS) are working tirelessly hard and will leave no stone unturned in its agitation for the total liberation of Biafra and other oppressed peoples in Nigeria.
