It is noteworthy that for close to two decades now, the Nigerian Telecommunications Industry received a boom with the introduction of the Global System for mobile Communication (GSM). From then till date, everything we do in Nigeria revolves around the telecom industry.

“Everyone irrespective of age, social status and even literacy level, go about with mobile phones and connect to global debates. Telecommunications has positively changed our ways of living – the way we think, relate and transact businesses. This has been made pronounced with the global acceptance of the social media which is powered by the IT/Telecom industry, hence the need to celebrate it,” he said.

The industry has done so well, contributing over 5.5 percent of the country’s GDP and significantly grown the economy in numerous other ways. Miss Telecom, therefore, shall be presented as a pageant that celebrates our rich cultural beliefs and heritage and the Nigerian telecom industry.”
