The people of the populous Ezza clan, under the aegis of Concerned Ezza-Ezekuna Stakeholders, has vowed not to support the re-election of the Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) for Ebonyi Central Senatorial zone, Senator Obinna Ogba over his alleged attacks and campaigns of calumny against the people of Ezza Nation.

In a statement signed by the President of the group, Mr Osita Nworu, the people of Ezza clan, noted that they cannot continue to fold their hands and allow the collective integrity of Ezza clan murdered and sacrificed on the altar of political warfare.

The people queried the lawmaker to mention his achievements in the three council areas being occupied by the Ezzas in Ebonyi Central zone, describing the list of the Senator's empowerment as “fictitious”.

The group alleged that at many fora, the PDP Senatorial candidate had boasted that he will win his second term election with or without the help of the Ezza people.

The statement frowned that Ogba, in a meeting he convened with some Ezza Stakeholders, allegedly said that he would defeat his challenger and APC candidate, Senator Julius Ucha in the forthcoming election.

Describing the utterances as insulting to their great son and Ezza clan in general, the group stressed that Ezza people would not vote for Ogba for allegedly insinuating that he has the “magic to hoodwink the most populous clan”.

They said: “We can no longer endure the barrage of attacks and campaigns of calumny against the people of Ezza Nation. We can’t fold our hands and allow the collective integrity of Ezza clan murdered and sacrificed on the altar of petty political warfare.”

“It has come to our knowledge that, instead of issue-based campaigns, the Senator representing Ebonyi Central zone, Senator Obinna Ogba has been going about castigating our leaders and great personalities of Ezza Nation in a bid to coarse victory to his second term bid.

“At many fora, Ogba has displayed arrogance, disdain and unguarded utterances against our loved sons of Ezza clan. Senator Ogba said during a meeting he had with few stakeholders of Ezza clan that he will flog any Ezza man contesting against him like a baby. Ogba even boasted that an Ezza man can’t rule Ishielu local government area as Chairman.

“We, therefore, consider such statement as a total denigration and disrespect to Ezza nation. It was quite unfortunate that in 2015, the Ezza people gave Senator Ogba overwhelming support and we observe with dismay, the way he took that support for granted by insulting our people in every slightest opportunity, describing them as a conquered clan in his senatorial ambition”.

However, the group challenged Senator Ogba to mention what he has done for Ezza Nation and also, to publish the names of Ezzamgbo people whom he has been claiming that he gave job, to have warranted his alleged outrage that he can pocket Ezza people in his ambition.

In his reaction, Senator Ogba described the allegation as “thrash”, stressing that election cannot be won through “propaganda and blackmail”.

Senator Ogba maintained that at no point had he made utterances against the people of Ezzas, noting that he still reveres and adores them.

He accused the opposition APC in the state for sponsoring such malicious allegations to incite him against his good friends and lovers from the clan.

Ogba noted that his projects are scattered all over the four local government areas of the zone, adding that majority of the beneficiaries of his empowerment came from the clan.
