Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in last year’s governorship election in Anambra State, Mr. Oseloka Obaze, has called on Nigerian youths to prove that they are not lazy.

Addressing journalists in Awka on Tuesday, Obaze said that though the present leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari have not lived up to his campaign promises, the youths on their part failed to prove his statement wrong by reacting.

He observed that the statement by the president was not entirely false adding that most youths in the country want their bread buttered without hard work on their part.

While blaming policy makers for contributing in making the youths lazy, Obaze noted that the enabling environment must be created for the people to operate.

He said: “The system is dysfunctional; therefore people living in it will be dysfunctional.

“The Nigerian youths indirectly nodded to President Buhari’s statement that they are lazy by keeping quiet. I support that statement but I wish he had made the statement here in Nigeria than in a foreign country. It would have made more sense if he said it here than abroad.”

The retired Diplomat and strategic policy advisor used the media parley to unveil his new book titled, “Prime Witness: Change and Policy Challenges in Buhari’s Nigeria”.

According to him, the book is not a mid-term assessment but a series of analysis published during the first two years of Buhari’s administration.

In the book, Obaze observed that Nigerians have come to the full realisation that Buhari aficionados sold Nigeria a defective leadership product.

His words: “Brand Buhari has turned out to be Nigeria’s newest false exceptionalism. False exceptionalism has been a thriving business in Nigeria in all sectors, while in reality excellence does not exist here.

“The false exceptionalism mantra built around Buhari by Tinubu and his cohorts in the media in 2015 had turned out to be worthless after all.”

The 448-page book is expected to be unveiled to the public in Lagos, Abuja and Awka starting from next month.
