Owners of buildings located along Enugu – Onitsha Expressway have been advised to queue into the new fencing design standard approved by the Anambra State Government.

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Anambra Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Architect Mike Okonkwo, gave the advice yesterday in Awka.

He said that under the new design, buildings will be fenced with materials that will enable those outside to see the houses.

Okonkwo said the arrangement is an important security check that will go a long way in boosting the security network put in place by the Willie Obiano administration since its inception four years ago.

“The Governor,” he said, “takes security matters seriously and will do everything necessary to ensure that the lives and properties of the citizens of the state are adequately protected, hence every measure towards achieving that must be followed.”

The ACTDA boss warned that the current demolition of illegal structures in the Awka Capital Territory is a continuous exercise. He stressed that government is determined to clean up Awka and its environs by removing all structures that block drainages, waterways, roads and maintenance of easy flow of traffic to enhance public safety and rid the capital territory of all nuisance.

Okonkwo further warned those erecting buildings near or under high tension lines to desist forthwith, as such action poses grave danger to both occupants of such buildings and passers-by.
