The Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Anambra State has decried the increasing number of check-points in the state.

It regretted that the High Command of security agencies were yet to effectively implement the directive of dismantling the check-points as earlier pronounced.

The body also condemned the practice of using road blocks to intimidate and extort money from motorists even when the victims have their complete vehicle’s particulars and could account for the goods they had.

In a statement signed by the state President of the organisation, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene, and Secretary Chief Mike Nnakwuzie, the body called on the leadership of security agencies to take proactive measure to check this trend incessant across the state.

“While it is important for the security agencies to do their work, it was unacceptable to the Ohaneze for them to embarrass travelers and extort money from them,” the group said. (Daily Trust)
