The Executive Secretary of the Bayelsa State Health Insurance Scheme, Dr. Zuoboemei Agadah, on Tuesday urged the scheme’s desk officers to sensitise public servants on the workings of the scheme.

Agada gave the charge while declaring open a one-day workshop by the management of the scheme for desk officers assigned to handle matters concerning the scheme at the various ministries, departments, agencies and parastatals held in Yenagoa.

Agadah noted that the interactive session was organised to acquaint desk officers with the operation of the scheme for effective management.

The Executive Secretary described the desk officers as the eye of the health insurance scheme at their respective MDAs, commending them for their efforts since the commencement of the scheme.

He explained that under the scheme an enrollee already registered by his or her spouse does not require to be registered again as the spouse’s registeration already offers coverage.

In their remarks, some of the desk officer thanked the management of the Insurance Scheme for organising the session and promised to put in their best so as to ensure the success of the scheme.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the Bayelsa Government recently inaugurated the Bayelsa Health Insurance Scheme Board to commence a health insurance scheme for public servants in the state.

The scheme has already commenced enrolment of civil servants who are required to contribute monthly premium from their salaries to augment funding provided by the state government to the scheme.
