The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) Wednesday, called on the President of the pan Igbo organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo, to take time off his busy schedule to pay a solidarity visit to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and others in Kuje Prison, Abuja.

Speaking in Awka, the Anambra State capital through its leader, Comrade Uchenna Madu, the group noted that as the Ohanaeze President is touring the nation and extending a handshake of fellowship for a better understanding and cohesion among Nigerian ethnic groups, he should also take time out to visit one of their own that is languishing in prison.

MASSOB further advised Nwodo to stop any unprofitable adventures saying that Ndigbo can no longer adjust to Nigeria continuity.

“Today, Nigeria is jittery and afraid of Biafra consciousness and realities which they know they cannot stop now because the struggle for actualisation and restoration of Biafra sovereignty has reached the point of no return.

“Couple of times, Chief Nnia Nwodo has been politically positive on his comments on Biafra actualisation but has not visited our brother, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, in prison or even other detainees in other prisons. If truly these men in Ohanaeze Ndigbo leadership loves our people knowing full well that ninety nine percent of Ndigbo prefers Biafra than staying in Nigeria.

“What has kept Chief Nnia Nwodo, his executive and Ime Obi from visiting or showing solidarities to Nnamdi Kanu?

“What has been keeping the leadership of Ndi Eze in Igbo land from visiting Nnamdi Kanu in prison or his father, a fellow member of South East traditional council?

“Why is it that Igbo National Assembly caucus has never shown any sign of affection to the travails of Nnamdi Kanu and others?

MASSOB also declared that Nigeria has no respect for Igbo leaders but only afraid of Biafra agitators. The statement further read, “Nigeria knows that Igbo leaders are their stooges and errand boys who always front their personal interest than Igbo interest.

“MASSOB is advising Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Igbo National Assembly members, Igbo Traditional and Religious leaders to emulate the likes of late Senator Uche Chukwumerije, Ikechukwu Obiora, Enyinnaya Abaribe, Joy Emodi, Annie Okonkwo etc who were always storming the Court in solidarity during my detention, Uwazurike and others.

“During my three years, six months and two weeks detention in Suleja, Keffi and Kuje prisons from 2006 to 2009, Senator Uche Chukwumerije and others severally visited me and others in prison even when Uwazuruike was released for his mother’s burial.

“We also advise them to emulate Eze Ibe Nwosu (Eze Igbo Abuja), Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, Chief Chekwas Okorie who always appeared in Court as Igbo leaders for solidarity over our case from 2006 to 2009.

“What is still holding the South East CAN and other religious leaders from showing solidarity to our brother, Nnamdi Kanu and others in prison. If Governor Fayose of Ekiti State was from Igbo land, he would have visited Nnamdi Kanu in prison, if Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu was still alive, he would have visited Nnamdi Kanu in prison.”

Madu said that in every revolutionary struggle, there must be a symbolic figure adding that Nnamdi Kanu may be considered the most famous Igbo man because he is a Biafra prisoner of conscience. He urged Igbo elites to fearlessly rally and identity with their own.
