A faction of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has kick-started a campaign to educate the general public and make clarifications on certain areas regarding its struggle for the realisation of Biafra.

In a statement issued Thursday in Enugu by Ben Obidi, Acting Media Director of MOBIN, the group stated that “Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is not one. There are two IPOBs, and one is known as the Government of the Indigenous People of Biafra (CG-IPOB), administered by Anthony Aniebue under the authority of the Supreme Council of Elders headed by Rtd. Justice Eze Ozobu (OFR) and Dr. Dozie Ikedife (OON) and is in the Federal High Court, Owerri with the Federal Government of Nigeria for a self determination case. The other is known as Indigenous People of Biafra Limited, London.

“The IPOB, operating Customary Government of IPOB is the original movement, and was founded in 2012 with Nnamdi Kanu as the Director for Media-Radio Biafra registered in the UK. It is this original group that have taken the case to international organisations like the United Nations, UN, African Union, AU among other countries through the representation of Bilie Human Rights Initiative (BHRI).

“Indigenous People of Biafra Limited, London was registered in 2014 in the UK by Nnamdi Kanu and Uche Mefor, after they had a disagreement with the Supreme Council of Elders and BHRI in October 2013 on the adopted methodology to achieve self-determination for the Indigenous People of Biafra.

“After the disagreement, the IPOB operating the Customary Government continued with the legal methodology and registered another media platform, BVI to project the activities of the indigenous people of Biafra following the directives of Biafra elders in court with the Nigerian Government.

“Despite the disagreement with Nnamdi Kanu IPOB group, the Customary Government of IPOB still believe that Nnamdi Kanu is a huge success with Radio Biafra, having fulfilled his mission of bringing Biafra to the world. However, the IPOB wishes to note here that Kanu derailed grossly by employing abusive language against those he doesn’t like. He also used the media to spin lies, simply in order to whip up sentiments in his favour.

Some of such lies is telling Biafrans that there is a standing army ready to destroy Nigeria, whereas there is no such thing.

“IPOB UK Ltd. and Radio Biafra London were formed in bad faith, as they were registered as business ventures, not as freedom fighters, which the movement started as.

“IPOB Ltd, UK and IPOB Ltd, USA have been spinning lies about what they can do and what they cannot do, and grossly derailed in their assignment. Our youths have been deceived by what they hear on Radio Biafra, and unfortunately, have become victims of the armed forces. While they are daily being urged to come out and protest on the streets, and end up getting killed, the broadcasters are safely tucked away outside the shores of the country, with their families, safe. Our innocent youths are irked by what they hear, and come out and get killed. Radio Biafra, IPOB Ltd UK and IPOB Ltd USA should state clearly how they intend to get Biafra, and stop inciting youths to commit suicide.

“Although this does not in any ways justify the wicked and ruthless shooting of Biafran youths by bloodthirsty Nigerian security personnel, those urging them to come out are equally guilty of this bloodshed.

“These youths are made to have blood covenant in Onitsha, Enugu, Aba, Asaba, Port Harcourt and other major cities of Biafraland. This must be condemned and stopped by all reasonable Biafrans.

“The resolve of the IPOB operating Customary Government is to take control of political power in Biafraland through political means is a part of the goals by which the movement was set up. This has consequently given birth to the Movement of Biafrans in Nigeria, MOBIN. All Biafrans are by this press release urged to join MOBIN and the UPP, and gear up to run for political positions, and/or vote Biafrans into power. Anambra Guber 2017 is our first assignment.

“IPOB under the leadership of Customary Government and Supreme Council of Elders at inception, rolled out a well planned methodology for Biafra actualisation – media, legal, diplomatic and political processes. The last phase of this method which is political has been activated with the establishment of MOBIN (a political movement). We want our qualified youths to come out and takeover political positions in Biafra land under the guidance of elders. This will move freedom fighting from streets to political offices and stop the death of our youths in hands of lawless and horrible Nigeria armed forces.”
